Submitting Songs Created Using AI

AI - Generated Music

Copyright implications of AI generated music is becoming a major issue. The current question is "Who owns the rights to the music?". Can the song you created with AI be copyrighted?

Currently, music generated by AI cannot be copyrighted. The US Copyright Office has generally denied copyright protection for music created entirely without human input.

Songwriter involvement is necessary, but to what extent? This is yet to be decided.

As far as pitching your music to pros, it is required to write at the bottom of your lyric sheet "No Sync Pitches. This song was created with AI."

If you pitch your music with this disclaimer on the lyric sheet, music industry pros may reject it immediately. Others may not. Afterall, what are they going to do with your song? If they like it, they are going to most likely send it to an artist who will re-record it. This adds the required human element.

This article is by no means, legal advice. However you will not be able to get your song copyrighted. Music industry pros require that the music submitted is copyrighted.
